New York Fashion Week (Fall 2015) Diary
NEW YORK FASHION WEEK DIARY (FALL 2015)
This Fashion Week was absolutely exhausting, as always, but more rewarding than ever before. Every time this week of September comes around I get excited - the week is one of the funnest times of the year and a great opportunity to network and get out there! Luckily this year I had my best friend Alees and her partner Nar with me, so my squad was very very strong! I had a lot of outfit changes, drama, and uber rides all over New York city. Read all about it below!
I started the week off with the Toy Syndrome presentation at Patricia Field store on Bowery and had a great time: the designer is super friendly and kawaii and basically sews little toys in the shape of boobs and butts all over garments. I was all over it! It was cool too because my new friend Melanie Gaydos was in the presentation. She is a super interesting model who exudes bad bitch inside and out. A true alien! <3
My favorite show of this season was probably Gypsy Sport, held at Milk Studios. My best friend Alees (@aleesyvon) and I had the opportunity to sit front row at the show at it was truly breathtaking. The designer Rio had some of the most original and clever accessories I've seen on a runway ever: notably a silk faux grocery-bag & amazing tribal-looking septum rings. Not to mention the hair was off the chain: one model's pony-tail stood straight in the air while another's afro was molded into a tripartite coiffure. Our friends Akito, Fiishbonez, and Nelleke all walked in the show along with Cardi B and Maluca Mala, and the audience was all family; Melissa Burns, Sussi, Alberto, Ssion, Raul (Luar Zepol), and DJ Kingdom were all in attendance. I gave hugs to everyone.
Another really surprising show was Ikumi SS16. The Japanese designer held her show at a skatepark under the bridge on the Lower East Side that I live it. The models walked the 'runway' while skaters did tricks on the ramps, half-pipes, and railings at the park! It was such a cool punk fantasy come true: I felt like I was in a scene from Zoolander.
The best party I attended were definitely the Telfar afterparty, held in an actual White Castle restaurant in Times Square. I lived my clubkid fantasy to go to an outlaw party and Joey Labeija killed his DJset. The DJ setup was right new to the cash register of the restaurant and all the employees while we were getting down on the dancefloor and drinking vodka mixed with any soda at the soda fountain, in White Castle to-go cups!!!
The Jeremy Scott party was also great; I had a really encouraging conversation with Jeremy himself (he gave me so much hope for the future), kiki'd with Miss Fame and Violet Chachki (my bitch!), and finally met Tokyo superstar legend Baby Mary Faline (also as amazing in person as you would expect). I left when Miss Fame accidentally bumped me off a tall-ass-platform, but at that point I was drunk as shit anyway, so it was time to go!
At the Alexander Wang event I got to eat free food catered by Hooters and served on silver trays by Hooters girls, watch strippers pole dance, and watch performances by Ludacris, Lil Wayne, ASAP Ferg, and the homie Tinashe (I acted in her music video a few nights later, stay tuned)! The best moment was by far when Lady Gaga said hi to me and Alees and told us "we belonged together". Having an icon say hi to you first is a magical experience, I'll admit: Gaga approves y'all, I'm certified.
I got to rep some awesome brands this fashion week, thank you to all of them for hooking me up! My favorites included ISLY (NYC), Salo Shayo (Mexico), YRU (LA), Moschino (Milano), Gothic Renaissance, HBA (NYC), and Taylor Ross (LA)! Shoutout to my new favorite designers Gabriela Ostolaza & SAGA nyc! Google them!
